 The Jonesboro Rotary Club on Tuesday recognized Craighead County's cream of the teaching crop. Eleven elementary school teachers received Golden Apple Awards for their work in the Jonesboro, Valley View, Nettleton, Bay, Westside and Brookland school districts.
Following the presentations, Jonesboro University president and educator Rusty Clark thanked the club for establishing these awards, saying that the schools, teachers and staff sincerely appreciate recognition from the community for the work they do.
Coincidentally, the awards were the idea of Harry Puddephatt when he served as president of the club. |

 The Rotary Clubs in Jonesboro, Arkansas have partnered with the Rotary Club of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, local government and partners around the world to build a Community Hall in Bay St. Louis Mississippi. This is Rotary's long-term commitment to this Gulf Coast community devastated by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. |
