A Hancock County Thanksgiving |
| |
|
Photos taken during the 2005 Thanksgiving celebration in Hancock County, Mississippi.
Jonesboro, Arkansas based artist and gallery owner, Sara Howell, gave of her exceptional talents to create a piece of art to symbolize the day of Thanksgiving. She captured much of the unique charm of Mississippi Gulf Coast life while focusing on the themes of rebuilding, community and history. Under the roof fly two doves representing the countless volunteers who work tirelessly to help the people of Hancock County. The tree of life symbolizes the hope and strength of the people of the Gulf Coast. The pier represents one of the community's focal points and gathering places. The shrimp and crab remind us of the importance of the sea and its bounty. The image at the bottom represents the beautifully restored L & N Depot that sits among the many Live Oaks. In the photos below you'll see this image on hundreds of t-shirts worn by volunteers who served the citizens of Hancock County. | |
