Information for Rotary Program Presenters

10 PowerPoint
Dos and Don'ts

The Rotary Club of Jonesboro welcomes you as a future program presenter to our club.  Our club was chartered by Rotary International on August 1, 1919 which makes it one of the oldest continuously operating civic organizations in our community.  Our regular meetings are held every Tuesday at 12:00 noon at the St. Bernards Auditorium.

The information on this page is intended to make your experience as a presenter, both enjoyable and rewarding for you, our members and our guests.

About our members

The club consists of approximately 170 professional women and men. We are a diverse group of individuals who appreciate the effort put forth by those who provide our weekly programs. Rotary is a non-religious, non-partisan organization dedicated to the ideals of service above self. Presenters are asked to refrain from references to specific religious beliefs, commercial endorsements and partisan politics. When political figures are invited to speak we will make every attempt to provide equal time for individuals representing other major political parties.

Meeting logistics

Plan on arriving at our meeting location (St. Bernards Auditorium, 505 E. Washington Avenue - click here for a MAP) between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. (depending upon your setup needs)  A member of the Program Committee will meet you at the registration desk to see to your needs.

The meeting begins at noon, but many members arrive much earlier to either tend to the business of the club or to go through the buffet and enjoy fellowship with fellow members prior to the meeting.

The club's president rings the bell at approximately 12:10 pm which signals the beginning of the meeting.

The first 10 - 20 minutes consists of club business and announcements preceding the program.

A member of the Program Committee will either introduce you or ask another member to introduce you so we will need you to provide a short biography about yourself at least two weeks in advance of the meeting. This bio will also appear in our club newsletter the week prior to your presentation.

Because many of our members must return to their places of business promptly at 1:00 pm, we ask that you end your program (including Q & A) by 12:55 p.m.

If you plan to take questions during your program, please repeat each question prior to answering.

Attendance at each weekly meeting ranges between  110 and 130 members and guests.

During the school year we often have high school age students in attendance.  These young people are members of one of the four Interact clubs sponsored by our Rotary club who are there as guests of the club.

Local news media representatives often cover our meetings and print or broadcast summaries, photos and/or audio and video taped excepts of many Rotary programs.  If you have a special request concerning the media, please advise your Program Committee contact.

Audio / Visual Equipment

Microphones

In addition to a stationary microphone positioned at the podium, the St. Bernards Auditorium audio system includes two wireless hand-held microphones  and two wireless lavaliere microphones available if needed.  Please inform us in advance if you have need for a wireless microphone.
